I.A.H.C for World Environment Day

World Environment Day, celebrated on June 5th, is not just a symbolic day but a landmark that emphasizes to all, the actions and initiatives that need to be taken for the well-being and sustainability of the planet.
Our Company has placed Sustainability and Environmental issues at the forefront of its strategy, with the priority of constructing and operating a truly “green” airport, focusing on Energy Transition, Climate Action, Environmental Protection, Waste Reduction, and Optimal Natural Resource Management. It follows a holistic approach to environmental management, with full awareness of its responsibilities towards airport users, local community, employees, and stakeholders.
In this context, I.A.H.C has designed and plans to implement policies that include:
Development and implementation of measures to tackle climate change, with the priority of overall carbon footprint reduction.
Development of an ecological strategy with the intention of integrating and adapting the new airport into the natural environment.
Implementation of best energy-saving practices in the buildings and infrastructures of the new airport, as well as the development of Renewable Energy Sources.
Design of a Waste Management System focusing on minimizing waste production and achieving high recycling rates.
Measures for protection and efficient use of water resources.
At the same time, already from the construction phase, Environmental Programs are being implemented that include regular monitoring of the management and recycling of construction site waste, monitoring of noise and air quality, while a Bird Management Program is underway to record the important species in the broader area of the project.
I.A.H.C, finally, recognizing the importance of protecting our natural resources, is committed to continuously evaluating its environmental and social performance and striving to minimize the environmental footprint of the new airport through the implementation of targeted policies and the designing of new initiatives.
